Dear Landlords,

I am sorry to say that I still watch a soap opera on television. It is the Guiding Light and it is the grand dame of soaps, dating back almost 55 years, beginning on radio.

As a young child, I watched it with my grandmother while she drank her tea made with the same tea bag she used all day long.

It used to be on television for 15 minutes after the 15 minute Search for Tomorrow soap. Sad to say but Search for Tomorrow bit the dust some 25 years ago, but the Guilding Light is still on--barely. At the bottom of the Soap Opera heap, Guiding Light manages to eek out an existence.

My favorite soap!

H-O-R-R-O-R-S!

Yesterday, as I was watching, late into the evening, my tv'od daily edition of Guiding Light. And, as the actors were on an outside venue showing springtime conditions, the camera panned a Heath Castle martin house, and lo and behold, a female sparrow was perched upon the railing.

OMG! The horror of it!

The picture of the sparrow now etched in my mind.

How can I ever watch my story again?

I dunno.

The Guilding Light is dead to me, now.

A long-time relationship--kaput!

I have to say I got a chuckle out of your post. I haven't had time to watch Guiding Light because I've been a war with my first ever House Sparrow (HOSP) at a state park I monitor. I got him though! And his mate made a bee line out of town.

Hey Martin Maven:

I actually watched "Guiding Light" today and I do believe I saw what was a Martin coming out of a martin house in one of the outdoor scenes. If you were not watching, I thought I'd pass that on and maybe the show can redeem itself!

The mosquitos are so bad here in Louisiana that I don't go outside as much and I did get to watch some of it today.
