Default PMLNT Sky Blue Color and Sparrow Deterrent Circle

Subject: PMLNT Sky Blue color and sparrow deterrent circle

Dear PMLNT Members,

I had many inquiries about the sky blue color to deter sparrows from the housing. I use this in connection with a metal circle fastened on top of the roof of a martin house with fishing sinkers on a kite line attached on the 4 house corners dangling in the wind. Sparrows do not like the metal circle because they think they cannot escape through this circle. Also the dangling makes them nervous. Martins do tolerate this all. Kenny Crawford came by my house today to make a good photo of this project of mine.

I tested the painted martin houses with the sky blue color for 5 years now. Knock on wood I do not have any sparrows bothering me anymore. The male will come and attract a female but she will not go into the apartment to start a nest. She thinks that she will not build a nest in the sky! Looking at the front of my martin house the other day it definitely blended into the sky that day. Since I added a 8 Quad Pod system I also painted the entrances with this sky blue color. Next I should experience with the entrances of the Super Gourds as well.

Sky blue color ingredients: I bought at Home Depot a 31FL OZ (1 PT 15 OZ) can of pure white paint (Base 1) HD 6811 Glidden Evermore Exterior 100% Acrylic Latex Semi-Gloss.

This is the write up on the top cover of the paint can:

Colorant OZ 48 96
Lamp Black 0 1 0
Thalo Blue 0 24 1
Magenta 0 5 0

They will mix the paint for you. Just paint the very front view of the house. Everything else can stay white.

Good luck and please let me know if you have results deterring the sparrows. I hope this will be of help to you.

Regards Gisela,
PMLNT

Default Sky Blue Color

Hello Everyone,
I bought the sky Blue according to the mixture posted and it was "alot darker" so check with Gisela before you buy any Paint,The mixture for the Sky Blue Color that is Posted here is over 7 years old , That is what I was told by The Home Depot Paint Dept , Things have changed thru the years making this mixture "alot Darker" than what Gisela originally Has on her Gourds & Housing.
Several of our Members approached me at our Last meeting saying the same thing, that they bought the sky blue and it was darker, anyway I hope to get the correct mixture posted just as soon as i can get the correct color Mixture for Sky Blue that we need.
I am posting This Picture that I took of Gisela's Sky Blue House so everyone can see it so you will see the correct color and will be able to compare it when you buy Paint. You can also see the "HALO" or Deterant Circle as well.
If anyone needs me my phone number and email are listed below:
