Default Sialis.org, wow!

I posted this on the "other" board too. I finally got onto the sialis.org website and am very impressed! I'm no expert on bluebirds, but I have seen --in-person-- many of the images they showed; of birds with their skulls exposed and pecked open, bodies used in nest-building, etc.

Can any one of us even imagine what kind of distress and pain those poor birds endure until death, if that's what's dealt them, finally comes? Imagine someone just walking into your house through the front door, holding you down and beating against your head with sharp object.

That's what I think of when I hold a house sparrow or starling in my hand, feeling its heart racing, then I look into its soulless black eye, hook a couple fingers around the base of its head and end its miserable life. Or, put a .22 into its body.

I have absolutely no remorse for what I do. Especially when I see young bluebirds or tree swallows sitting on the powerlines and hear their parents singing. No remorse.

Hi Monty,

Sialis is a wonderful site to learn about the horrors that House Sparrows and European Starlings will do to our Native cavity nesting birds. I am truly sorry that you and other birders have seen this. As always, you make a good point. You are a responsible Native Bird Host/Landlord.

Here is the link for Sialis. One will find great information there about not only Bluebirds but there is also a section on other cavity nesting birds. I encourage all birders to check it out.

I'm not sorry I saw the images. I know what the aftermath of an attack looks like. Some are worse than others. I once brought home --to my parents house-- tree swallow carcasses to try and photograph them and post them in a magazine I was taking, if they would. The photos did turn out very well. But now I don't have to. We just have to keep insisting that everyone takes a good long look at the images, so no one will say, "Oh, it's just backyard propaganda against a specific bird that they don't like, for whatever reason."

Yes, that is a direct quote that I read on youtube under the "when sparrows attack" video. This one person --assume it was a woman-- said she "loves house sparrows, think they're wonderful. I don't know why no one else can see the beauty of these birds."

Reminds me of KandWBirds on B&B saying of starlings, "these dear, smart birds..." Makes me sick.

Yes, That is a great site for learning about Bluebirds and what the House Sparrows do to them. And what to do about it.

I believe that there were a couple of people that had their eyes opened on that other board and that is a good start.

When that one person was gone things were rolling right along, but now that she's back we have to step it up a notch again!

BTW, we never had HOSP or EUST here in 3 years, but this morning sitting on top of the feeding station was a starling! My husband blasted it with his shotgun. Said he didn't want to take a chance on missing it! It's mate was sitting on the light on the side of the house so couldn't be shot there, but we'll be on the watch.

Hi Monty and Pat,

Monty: I am so glad that you checked out this site. I believe that it has validated you in your quest to teach others about the harm House Sparrows and European Starlings will do to our Native Birds. You are doing a great job at opening peoples eyes to the truth.

Pat: You are helping also in educating others. I am sorry that EUST have found your place but am very happy that your Husband is taking care of the "problem".

I really appreciate you both and the "many" others here on the Round Table Conferences that agree that these imports must die...period!
