Don’t
forget to join Executive Director, Terry Suchma, and landlords
across the martin’s North American breeding range
on the original, newly updated for 2007 . Purple Martin forum,
The Round Table Conferences (RTC).
At the Round Table, we generously share our wealth of Purple Martin
information with an immense network of talented and knowledgeable
landlords from different venues in North America. If you are researching
Purple Martin information, products, techniques and management
styles, join us on the Round Table Conferences.
NOTE:
EXISTING ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE MEMBERS
Our change of software that manages The Round Table Conferences,
and other necessary circumstances we had to take into consideration,
have prompted additional Required Information to your Member Profiles.
There is a Conference Link on the opening page of the new RTC that
you should follow which explains this matter in greater detail.
It is
very important information that you should know about ahead of
time.
New Features added/updated at The Purple Martin Society, NA
While
it was the off-season for Purple Martins and their stewards,
it was
the “in” season for our web staff who worked tirelessly
to revamp portions of our website and add several new amenities. As
you've already noticed, our Home Page has a new, fresh and unencumbered
look.
Also, soon
to come to the Home Page, will be News Nuggets of important Purple
Martin news as it happens as well as other important items
of interest. You’ll be able to spot these at the bottom of the
page (when they’re added) where a current headline reads “Griggsville
Institution Sold.” This is the article explaining the recent sale
of the Nature House (a.k.a. Trio Housing, etc. to a Chicago, IL
manufacturing company.)
The Purple Martin Calendar of Events
Also new to
the Home Page is the Calendar of Purple Martin Events. If
you or your martin organization has an important date and/or event
to be publicized, follow the link beneath the calendar nugget on
the Home Page and send it to us to be included in the Calendar
of Events. The link below also achieves the same result in case
you want to bookmark the page from here.

Although not a new section, the popularity of the Travelogue continues
to underscore the dramatic worldly life and travels of Purple Martins.
For seasoned
landlords, this special section provides not only scout reports
but also on-going information updates about the birds’ migration
once they commence. For the newer viewers who seek a better understanding
of what the Purple Martin experience is all about, our Purple Martin
Travelogue screens on the 2007 Migration Page will offer graphic
and informative representations about the worldly travels of this
wonderful bird from Brazil in South America, through the chain
of islands in the Caribbean or Central America, the Yucatan of
Mexico, across the Gulf of Mexico to your backyard in North America.
New Web Pages

charts are dynamic and are constantly updated based on new sighting
information as it is recorded in the database. In addition to
viewing the most recent Purple Martin scout arrivals, viewers can
input comments as well as select to view 2-year data record comparisons
by state and year.

Wing To Wing Program
Sharing is an important part of The Purple Martin Society. And,
in the spirit of sharing, we introduced a new program in 2006 at
PMSNA called the Wing To Wing,
a Shared Resources Program.
It is an outreach program involving the PMSNA, local martin groups
and organizations and all those who read our website for information.
Wing to Wing implies a cooperative effort in the dissemination
of Purple Martin information in a sincere effort to help all those
in our interest seeking help and information in the conservation
effort of Purple Martins.
Wing to Wing is a program for PM organizations and clubs whereas
the PMSNA aids these groups in hosting their own domain / webpage
on our server. In doing so, we provide the basics, including the
securing of their domain for them, for website installation and
hosting for these groups.
What this provides for martin affiliates is a bonfire presence
and domain ownership on the web including a domain complete with
a legitimate web address and email addresses for certain designated
members.
In return, the PMSNA only asks that they keep an active club/org
discussion group on the Round Table and contribute in some way
to our online news program, The Scout Report Online.
We already have two major Purple Martin organizations signed to
this program. We are already hosting The
Purple Martin Society of Collier County and
The
Purple Martin Landlords of North Texas (PLMNT)
So, if your group is interested in participation in this Shared
Resources Program, you may write us at: info@purplemartins.com
